Macy's Ideology Campaign featuring Redmond Ramos

One inspiring individual featured in the ID Ideology campaign is Redmond Ramos, a former Navy Corpsman combat medic with the Marines who lost his left leg while serving in Afghanistan.

Undeterred by his injury, Ramos took the challenge and turned it into an opportunity, pushing himself to medal at the Warrior Games an astonishing 11 months after losing his leg. Ramos has also won medals at the Invictus Games and Endeavor Games, and was the inaugural champion of CBS Sports’ Triumph Games.

"I think that USA Team competitor Hospital Corpsman 3rd Class (ret.) Redmond Ramos said it best, 'there are zero victims here, and no one is looking for pity... it's not a bunch of disabled people that happen to be competing, we are people having a competition that happen to be disabled.'"

“'I got 14:03, but it’ll be faster, don’t you worry,' Ramos said with a laugh.

Ramos was in the Marines when he was injured in Afghanistan back in 2011.

'I stepped on an IED and got out with a paper cut and just a single below the knee amputee.  Most people had it much worse, so I’m the luckiest man alive.'"

"Amputees work harder," Stokes says. "One time I was at the beach and I told a [traditional] model, 'Now we're going to walk down to these rocks,' and he was like, 'Way down there? I'm not doing that.' And I thought, even double amputees would drag themselves to the end of the beach if I asked."
